Interstate Container has confirmed that it has been selected to conduct a joint presentation with Mountaire Farms, the seventh-largest chicken producer in the U.S., at PACK EXPO 2017 in Las Vegas, September 25-27, 2017. The presentation, titled “The Wax Alternative Packaging Revolution: Fighting Landfill Waste with Relentless Innovation,” will focus on how the innovation of a wax replacement packaging solution is having an impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing landfill costs and improving operations in packing and shipping cold and wet products.
The presentation will take place at C-1049 at noon on Wednesday, September 27, as part of PACK EXPO’s Innovation Stage educational seminars.
Pete Bugas, Vice President of Interstate Container’s Greencoat and Coated Container Group, and Bruce Mooney, Vice President of Retail Sales for Mountaire, will describe how Interstate Container and Mountaire Farms, one of the largest poultry processors in the U.S., joined forces in 2004 to develop a recyclable wax replacement solution to address mounting pressure from the retail and restaurant industries, which were growing tired of bearing the monetary and environmental costs of wax disposal.
“We have spent years working with Mountaire Farms to develop a viable wax replacement solution,” said Bugas. “This hard work paid off in the creation of Greencoat®. Today, Greencoat® has revolutionized packaging in the poultry, produce and seafood industries, resulting in a significant reduction in landfill costs and carbon emissions.” (see infographic below with the details on the sustainability impact of Greencoat®.)
