Fresnels Inc has seen its advanced nanotechnology packaging imagery win at the Foil and Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) awards. The company’s Peacock foil on the Rose box packaging design concept scooped the Gold Award for technical difficulty in the category ‘Best Use of Foil Embossing on Folding Carton’, cementing success for a new product that is receiving a lot of interest from brand packagers and designers.
Incorporating enhanced levels of security features for added brand protection, the box has been produced from FSC certified paper overprinted with a floral design before a clear, optically variable Peacock™ foil is applied via heated blind embossing. This ensures perfect register between the raised leaves and petals and the green to gold colour transformation imparted by the foil
The FSEA awards ceremony held in Atlanta, USA, saw leaders in the folding carton, corrugated, print finishing, package design and specialty converting industries gather to mark the best in sector innovation, achievement and development. Presenting their award, the judges cited how impressed they were by the use of Fresnels’ Peacock transparent colour shift foil applied over blind embossed and colour printed flowers.
The award was accepted by Fresnels COO, Glenn Wood, who commented that, as relative newcomers to the stamping foil market, it was encouraging to be recognised as serious players in the highly competitive market. He added, “We are bringing highly innovative eye-catching features to luxury packaging, which incorporate advanced optical technology. This provides packaging designers with new graphic tools in response to the current trend for colour shifting effects and also provides a measure of deterrence against piracy.”
