Prinzhorn Group has confirmed it has completed the successful installation of solar panels at both locations of Dunapack Packaging Cluster in Plovdiv-Schimatari.
The systems have a combined power capacity of 2.2 MW and are expected to produce more than 2,775,000 kWh per year. The Plovdiv plant in Bulgaria began energy production at the end of March, followed by Schimatari in Greece in mid-July.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, we are excited to embark on this green energy initiative,” said the company in a statement. “The new solar panels will not only provide a renewable source of energy but also contribute significantly to our environmental goals.”
With two-thirds of the cluster’s energy consumption already powered by renewable solar energy, Dunapack Packaging are now setting their sights on a bold goal: achieving 100% renewable energy in the upcoming years for this cluster. The environmental impact is significant, with carbon footprint reduction for July alone calculated at up to 141.72 tons of CO₂ emissions avoided.
