Scott McKinley Retires

Industry veteran Scott McKinley recently retired following a long career in the corrugated equipment business that spanned five decades. His corrugated industry career began in the 1970s. His father, Bill, sold corrugated boxes in Cleveland, Ohio and also worked a night job where he was busy running machines and making boxes in a friend’s box plant. He then delivered the boxes at night before returning to his “day job.” Scott helped his father during that time, making boxes after hours. Eventually, this enterprise evolved into the development of a rotary diecutter and ultimately, McKinley Machinery Company, which was formed in the early 1980s.

Scott was joined by three brothers and a sister working for their parents in the family business. McKinley Machinery became a formidable force in the equipment business from the 1980s through the 2000s, selling hundreds of rotary diecutters and flexos, mostly to North American independent box makers.  Scott became President of McKinley Machinery in 1988 upon the passing of his father. He continued to expand the loyal nationwide following that his father developed during the company’s early years. Under Scott’s leadership, the company grew and prospered, ultimately outliving many of its competitors.

McKinley Machinery remained independent until its sale to Emba Machinery in 2004. Scott joined MarquipWardUnited in November 2008 and has had a successful 10-year career selling new converting equipment in the Northeast.

Pete Bickford, VP Sales at BW Papersystems, noted: “Through his decades in the corrugated industry, Scott has developed multi-generational relationships and earned the trust, respect and friendship of box makers, competitors, and industry suppliers across the world. His customers and his teammates know Scott as a man of his word with an uncompromising commitment to support his customers. We recognize and celebrate the outstanding career of a corrugated industry leader and a true gentleman, Scott McKinley.”
