UK-based Qualvis Print & Packaging has installed a Heidelberg Suprasetter 106 CtP device with Dual Cassette Loader and turntable. “We are replacing an older Suprasetter but this latest version and the new laser configuration will give us 40 plates an hour, double the output,” says Paul Watkinson, reprographic and prepress manager.
The Leicester company which was formed in 1982 and prides itself on its “honesty, knowledge and passion”, offers design services and litho and digital print. It specialises in cartons for the food, multimedia and cosmetics markets and its clients include Waitrose and Tesco. The new CtP device will handle two plate sizes having two plate trays, each holding up to 100 plates, gives it flexibility. Although the platesetter will be tended from 6am to 9pm (a double day shift pattern) it can operate unmanned to give 24 hour production. “The operators like the Suprasetter and the transfer has been seamless,” says Mr Watkinson.
