Possible temporary layoffs in Finland for Metsä Board

Metsä Board has confirmed it will initiate change negotiations on possible temporary layoffs for its paperboard and BCTMP mills in Finland.

The negotiations involve a total of 1,100 employees at the Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Kyro, Tampere, Simpele and Äänekoski mills. The possible layoffs would last a maximum of 90 days and they could be implemented in several installments during 2025. The change negotiations will start in week 46, and they are estimated to last two weeks.

With the change negotiations, the company is preparing to adapt the production temporarily for low delivery volumes in case the demand situation in 2025 would not improve. The allocation, amount and timing of possible layoffs will be specified during 2025.
