Ongoing investment at Cartonage, as it beefs up production volume

John Hall, Managing Director, iPack Solutions, has confirmed that Bradford-based Cartonage Ltd has invested in a series of new converting lines, specifically for folding carton packaging.

Since 2021, Cartonage have made significant investments in new machinery, with an Eterna EFold 900 Elite folder gluer, which has offered them an exciting opportunity to enhance production efficiency and product quality. Most recently, at the beginning of 2023, they took delivery of an ECut 1060 Elite die-cutter.  The Elite’s advanced cutting capabilities streamline the process, reducing material wastage and increasing accuracy. Paired with the EFold 900 Elite’s precision folding abilities, the combination ensures seamless and precise packaging production.

To maximise the folder gluer’s productivity, cut down costs and reach top packing speeds, Cartonage also invested in the Impack Ergosa C Universal Packer and IN2 Box Turner which presents a strategic opportunity to elevate packaging operations. The Impack IN2 Box Turner efficiently reorients boxes, reducing manual labour to streamline the packaging process. This, combined with the Ergosa C Universal Packer’s versatile capabilities, allows for semi-automated and precise packing of various products, ensuring consistent quality and faster output. For example, straight line boxes have been more than doubled in production speed.

“By embracing these technologies, the business can optimise production lines minimise errors, and enhance overall efficiency, thereby positioning themselves to meet market demands effectively while achieving significant cost savings and maintaining a competitive edge,” said Hall. “These investments not only optimise operational workflows but also empower Cartonage to meet evolving market demands with superior, crafted packaging solutions, fostering a competitive edge in the industry. We are delighted to have established a strong partnership with the Cartonage team. The integration of both the Eterna and Impack installations have been remarkable, and we pleased to see the benefits that they have already brought.”
