UK-based Elliott Baxter has launched a new grade from their Indian mill supplier ITC Ltd. This follows a reconstruction of BM1 and the addition of a fourth coating unit which has enabled the mill to produce a hard sized grease resistant barrier board. A water-based coating (free of fluorocarbons) is applied to the reverse of the board using coating units 3 and 4 offering a kit 8 or 11 depending on the nature of the product coming into contact with the board. The new stock range will be in 250, 280 and 300gsm across sizes 640 x 900mm, 720 x 1020mm LG & SG all the equivalent of Kit 11 and FSC certified.
“We have supplied initial quantities to a couple of highly reputable food carton printers in the UK and the feedback was excellent. I was quietly confident it would be, but you have to take things slowly when developing a new grade such as this,” said Board Division Manager Simon Woolridge. “The stock will be in our warehouses from September and we are expecting a significant amount of interest in what we believe is the best quality FSC certified Grease Barrier board available to the market.”
