Newly elected Labour MP, Alistair Strathern, recently visited Colpac Ltd at its Flitwick factory for an insight into all things packaging and sustainability.
He joined Colpac’s ESG Manager, Talia Goldman, and several of the company’s directors for an in-depth tour, observing packaging production from start to finish and meeting Colpac team members along the way.
The Member of Parliament got stuck into understanding how Colpac works, and discussed topics key to the industry, including net zero support, industrial strategy, maintaining competitiveness, and import tariffs. As Parliamentary Private Secretary to both Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP and Shadow Secretary for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband MP, Strathern has strong connections in the Labour Party on issues which impact the industry.
Talia Goldman said, “We were delighted to host Alistair Strathern at our factory and to demonstrate how we manufacture our paperboard packaging. As proud advocates of UK manufacturing, we enjoyed the opportunity to promote local industry and to initiate conversations around topics that affect us.”
