Mondi completes €125m investment in Finland

Mondi has recently completed its €125m investment in the Kuopio containerboard mill in Finland.

Upgrades have been made to the wood yard, fibre line, evaporation plant, and paper machine producing ProVantage Powerflute, which is predominantly used in fresh fruit and vegetable trays and boxes.

Mondi revealed that the investment will increase production capacity by 55,000 tonnes per annum, enhance product quality for the benefit of customers, and improve environmental performance by reducing greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of paper and improving resource and energy efficiency.

Mondi Kuopio marked the milestone with an inauguration event attended by local politicians and partners. Andrew King, CEO Mondi Group, said, “We are delighted to celebrate the completion of this significant investment and the opportunity it gives us to continue providing high-quality, sustainable products to our customers. It also demonstrates our commitment to supporting economic growth in the region and securing the long-term viability of the Kuopio mill.”

The local community will benefit from a modernised mill, including improvements in safety and environmental performance.”
