Following the earlier announcement, Mondi Group has completed the acquisition of LLC Beepack, a corrugated packaging plant in Lebedyan, Russia (around 400 km south of Moscow) from a private investor. The Beepack plant, to be renamed Mondi Lebedyan, produces a range of corrugated packaging trays and boxes for food and agricultural products such as beverages, fruit and vegetables, poultry, and dairy. Customers include local Russian and international producers.
Mondi will integrate the plant into its Corrugated Packaging business segment which has an existing network of 15 corrugated packaging plants in central and eastern Europe. Mondi is already well established in Russia through other parts of its business, including the Mondi Syktyvkar containerboard and paper mill, the Mondi Pereslavl and Mondi Uralplastic consumer goods packaging plants, and several sales offices in Moscow. Mondi now has around 6,000 employees in Russia.
Peter Oswald, CEO Mondi Europe and International said, “We are delighted to welcome the plant and its employees to our organisation. This acquisition underlines our confidence in Russia. We want to produce and sell value added products in Russia supporting Russia’s intent to grow in manufacturing.”
