Model Group has recently restarted its paper machine in Eilenburg, Germany, after a 14-month reconstruction period.
The first paper from the new paper machine was wound onto the tambour, and with this, the Model Group now operates one of the world’s most advanced paper machines for packaging papers.
With a working width of 9.4m (net at the roll cutter) and a maximum production speed of 1,800 m/min, the future capacity of the paper mill in Eilenburg will exceed 630,000 tons of paper per year, much of which will be used as raw material in the Group’s own corrugated board plants.
This allows the Model Group to make a significant contribution to sustainability, as the paper is produced entirely from 100% recycled material, and the lighter basis weights enable a reduction in raw materials used in corrugated board. Furthermore, the entire plant is designed to produce lightweight papers (60-120 gsm) to consistently follow the path of CO2 reduction in line with the FEFCO roadmap.
