The MBO Group is to become part of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. The MBO brand will continue to exist after the takeover. Jointly with Heidelberg, the company is looking to expand its product offering for the growing market of digital print finishing.
MBO Group is a long-established market player, developing, producing and selling high-quality finishing equipment for digital and offset printing as well as for mailing, pharmaceutical and special applications. The company had a sales volume of approximately €50 million in 2017.
“This transaction is a major strategic move for MBO Group to continue driving the process of digitalisation and to further develop our digital print finishing product range,” says MBO Group CEO Thomas Heininger. “Heidelberg is a strong partner for us. Together, we will be able to pave the way for a successful future,” adds Renate Binder on behalf of the Binder family as owners of MBO Group.
In cooperation with Heidelberg, it will be considerably more efficient to explore joint opportunities in international markets as well as in growth sectors such as pharma, digital and packaging. The transaction is therefore a key component for achieving sustainable growth.
To that end, MBO Group will continue working with the company’s worldwide representations and use the network of dealers and service providers jointly with Heidelberg. The transaction includes all MBO Group sites with altogether 450 employees and, subject to the approval of the German cartel office, is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
