LeadEdge Flexo launches cbak evolve™️

LeadEdge Flexo has confirmed the launch of its new cbak evolve™ mounting material.

The new product utilises bio-based Polyethylene (PE) in its construction and aims to reduce the industry’s reliance on synthetic virgin material at this crucial point in corrugated printing, without sacrificing performance or versatility.

Designed in response to changing converter needs and constructed using LeadEdge’s vast technical expertise, cbak evolve is a closed-cell foam mounting material that combines exceptional corrugated print performance with resource-efficient design. Expertly engineered to operate at the highest industry standards and incorporating at least 30% bio-based material, the launch of cbak evolve signposts another key step forwards for the corrugated printing industry.

The new material retains the quality and on-press benefits traditionally associated with cbak™️, but a significant proportion of its construction is biomaterial-based, certified by a third party with C14 certification.

Michael Owen, Managing Director, LeadEdge Flexo, comments, “cbak is recognised globally as a brand corrugated printers can trust but it is time for the material to evolve into a more sustainable solution. cbak evolve encompasses our core values. It does not compromise on quality or performance, it does not compromise on value, it is a solution which is at the forefront of our innovative thinking. Displacing fossil-based ingredients with renewable plant-based resources is a positive, logical step and the material should be supported and celebrated by printers and brands alike. As an industry we need to continue the evolution to circular resources and cbak evolve is the first step of our journey here at LeadEdge.”

cbak evolve reduces the height of photopolymer printing plates, providing printers with numerous operational advantages. These benefits include consistent ink coverage, reduced dot gain, reduced fluting on corrugated substrates, and exceptional imaging for complex print jobs.

The technology behind cbak brings exceptional memory and rebound characteristics, which extend the life of printing plates by allowing for reduced pressure settings. The high-quality PE foam is also both water and solvent-resistant, ensuring dimensional accuracy across the web eliminating high and low spots. Like the conventional cbak range, cbak evolve will be available in a range of thicknesses.
