There has been a whirl of speculation that prices for kraftliner are set to rise. Several leading players have gone public with their intentions:
- At the beginning of June, Smurfit Kappa announced a €50 per tonne increase on brown and white kraftliners, applied from 17th July;
- SCA Containerboard announced towards the end of June a €50 per tonne on brown and white kraftliners, effective 1st August.
Given the tight balance of supply vs demand for kraftliner in Europe, many are speculating that the increases will go through and stick.
