It has been widely reported that German recycled containerboard manufacturer, Julius Schulte Trebsen (JST) will not pursue the plan for the installation of a new 700,000 tpy recycled containerboard machine at the mill in Trebsen, near Leipzig.
“The high energy costs in Germany were expected to continue on an upward path amid the country’s energy system transition,” said the company. “This was compounded by higher construction costs and the general economic situation, which was already having a significant impact on the packaging industry, and the geopolitical tensions and uncertainties.”
JST runs one containerboard machine with an installed capacity of up to 240,000 tpy. The new containerboard machine PM 2 was planned to produce 2,200 tpd and increase the company’s annual production capacity by 700,000 t.
