Germany-based EyeC, the print inspection experts, and Versor Engineering, manufacturer of folder gluers, have started a partnership to provide converters with new and flexible solutions for 100% outgoing quality control of cartons. One of these joint solutions, a pre-feeder module, called Versor Inspector was showcased for the first time at the German trade show Fachpack in September. Equipped with EyeC’s in-line inspection system – the EyeC ProofRunner – this flexible and movable pre-feeder unit can easily be connected to any folder gluer to convert it into the perfect inspection solution for folding cartons.
As required for most packaging materials for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, toiletry and branded products, the system inspects 100% of the production and compares it against the signed-off proof. Easy and quick to set-up and able to operate at a speed of 300m/min (984ft/min), the system detects all relevant print defects on the carton and uses the gluer’s existing ejection device to reject any defective item. As a result, converters can comply with the highest quality requirements and avoid customer rejects without slowing down production.
