HP has used the backdrop of Pack Expo in Las Vegas, NV this week to unveil the final technical details of its PageWide C500 press. The roll-out machine, which is due to be commissioned at Carmel in Israel soon, will print at speeds of up to 75 linear m per min (246 linear ft per min). HP says that thanks to its food-safe inks, the press will produce corrugated packaging that brings a new level of versatility for a wide range of packaging solutions, whether using coated or uncoated liners, at offset matching quality..
Utilising HP PageWide Thermal Inket technology, the nozzles allow 1200 dpi resolution and will print direct to corrugated board from F flute through to BC doublewall. The maximum sheet size is 1.32m wide x 2.5m long (51.9″ x 98.4″).
