Scotland’s premier independent paper recycling company, Highlander International Recycling, recently completed an investment in its Security Shredding operations within its East Kilbride depot near Glasgow. The investment includes a dedicated PAAL baler capable of processing 30 tons per day of shredded paper bales, an Ulster 45 short-bed shredder and feed conveyor and a major refurbishment of existing machinery including a product destruction Hammer-mill and two feed conveyors. The company also installed a comprehensive dust extraction unit for all machines along with new CCTV system for the operations to compliment the existing cameras in place, for the rest of the depot operations.
Highlander held an Open Day on Friday 5th May for the commissioning of the new facility. Current and potential clients toured the operations and had a bird’s eye view of materials being destroyed from the comfort of the company’s mezzanine viewing area.
Commenting on the investment, Highlander Director Stephen Duffy said, “With this investment we can now offer a fully secure, destruction and recycling service for all paper based materials from bags of confidential waste to full loads of paper and cardboard and books or catalogues on pallets. All operations are accredited to EN15713 standards and subject to external inspection as a member of UKSSA.”
