This April, folding carton executives will gain valuable knowledge about important leadership development strategies and future market opportunities at the 2024 Spring Outlook and Strategies Conference hosted by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) in Dallas (Frisco), TX.
Renowned speakers will take the stage at the Omni Frisco Hotel from April 17-19 to discuss the importance of future-proofing businesses to respond to a new generation of wants, needs, and expectations, recent leading economic indicators, best practices for spotting and nurturing talent, networking and plant tours, and a presentation for PPC’s Annual Safety Awards, where one company or plant will receive a top award for finishing the year with the most hours worked without an OSHA recordable incident.
“We’ve gathered together an A-list agenda to help our executives elevate their communication and leadership development strategies to help guide them through the current workplace era and plan for the future so they can prosper amid cyclical turns in the economy and markets,” said Ben Markens, PPC president. “After celebrating our Safety Award winners and a full day of informative sessions and networking with fellow boxmakers, we’re thrilled to offer plant tours at both American Carton Company and Southern Champion Tray in Mansfield, TX.”
Thursday’s programming will kick off with Beyond the Box: Creative Leadership in the Packaging Industry by Lisa Ryan, founder of Grategy, delivering strategies for attendees seeking to extend traditional boundaries to cultivate a culture of innovation and creativity. In her keynote, Ryan will offer leadership approaches to spark change and drive businesses forward with cutting-edge tools and insights to attract and retain top talent in the paperboard packaging industry. Ryan will showcase how to foster a workplace culture that excels while prioritizing innovation and satisfaction. Armed with actionable strategies, attendees will leave with new skills to sustainably transform their leadership styles and their organization’s trajectory.
Additionally, attendees will dive into the significance of managing a diverse, multigenerational workforce with an engaging presentation from Mark Brothers, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Deputy Compliance Officer at RRD. From understanding the unique characteristics of different generations to navigating challenges and seizing opportunities, as well as modern leadership strategies for attracting and training new talent, Brothers’ presentation will equip participants with practical approaches to foster inclusivity and drive organizational success.
Dan Felton, Executive Director of AMERIPEN, will then take the stage to conclude the day’s strong programming to provide an overview of the United States’s current packaging and environment policies as significant new laws continue to be passed and implemented on packaging extended producer responsibility (EPR), labeling, recycled content mandates, and more.
A PPC spring meeting staple is a comprehensive economic address by leading economist Chris Kuehl, Managing Director of Armada Corporate Intelligence. Kuehl will return to the conference to update attendees on the latest economic indicators and how they will affect the paperboard packaging market.
Rounding out the rest of the conference will be a member spotlight from Trent Tucker, General Manager of American Carton Company, various dynamic committee meetings, and an interactive Women’s Leadership Council session guided by Ann Bowers-Evangelista, Psy.D., MBA, a seasoned executive coach specializing in executive leadership, who will lead a comprehensive session on Effective Communication, including an opportunity for attendees to take a free of charge personality-based assessment to discuss how individual communication styles impact all aspects of their communication process.
