Friese – orientation towards the future

Friese GmbH is known worldwide for the manufacture of highest quality and 100% ‘Made in Germany’ corrugating and pressure rolls. The company claims it was the first manufacturer of corrugating rolls who successfully passed the SMETA sustainability audit.

Sustainability has recently become more and more important. In particular, companies have a major impact – the special appreciation of ethical and social sustainability as well as a thoughtful use of resources contribute significantly to a better future.

“We are aware of our responsibility and have used these challenging times to prove this through this audit,” says Philipp Heublein, Senior Manager Sales and Service.

SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is a globally used concept for the verification of sustainable and ethical behaviour in companies. It is based on a standard method with the four main categories:

  • Environmental;
  • Business Ethics;
  • Health and Safety;
  • Labour.

“Now we are able to prove to the world what has been one of the principles of our company for years,” continues Heublein. “But that’s not the only important result of the audit. Through the identified improvement opportunities, we are able to develop further in order to get the best for our employees and customers. Using targeted investments, paired with continuous development of products, systems and services, Friese stays at the pinnacle of corrugating roll manufacturing.”

Heublein concludes, “For Friese, the successful participation in this audit means the opportunity to show its customers, suppliers and partners how important the transparency, safety, ethical and social principles are. With the award of the sustainability SMETA-certification, Friese is a pioneer in the field of corrugating roll production.”
