Encore Packaging Solutions is set to boost capacity at its Peterlee, UK site with the addition of a new die-cutter from BOBST.
Having secured a number of new customers in the past year and seeing volumes from existing customers grow, the company has chosen to invest in NOVACUT 106 ER. The machine offers fully automated, inline blanking separation to streamline carton processing and remove the need to manually strip waste from die-cut work.
Supplying to the food and beverage, e-commerce and general retail markets, Encore Packaging Solutions manufactures a range of innovative folding carton and corrugated products. The new die-cutter will complement and enhance existing Bobst assets at the 74,000 sq ft site.
Russell Croisdale, Managing Director, Encore Packaging Solutions, said, “The decision to invest in new machinery has come as part of clear, focused strategy to grow the business. In recent months we have secured new business and increased volumes from existing customers. As the company grows, it’s important that we strengthen certain processes to avoid bottlenecks in production and ensure we maintain the reputation and quality our customers expect.
“Boosting productivity is core to this investment. The blanking feature incentivised us to seal the deal; it’s just what we were looking for and will have a significant impact on throughput and efficiency downstream. Once installed, the new Novacut will open doors to new markets and enable us to be more competitive, which is most important in today’s packaging environment.”
The new machine is due to be installed in September. At the same time, the existing Novacut 106 E will be upgraded with a Bobst elevation kit, which will allow Encore to process larger pallets of work and future-proof the machine to be in line with any future press investment.
