DF Logistics Systems, in collaboration with Emmepi Group, are set to build an automated corrugated WIP vertical storage system for the Italian corrugated company, Grimaldi, in the town of Capua.
The automatic vertical storage system, designed spcifically for Grimaldi, comprises an internal structure measuring 8.5m high and 70m long, divided into four storage levels and two aisles. This means a total of 287 cells of storage space.
In each of the corridors features an ESVA T2C – 2500 stacker crane. These stacker cranes are designed and manufactured by DF and are well-known for their robustness, reliability and easy maintenance. The stacker cranes integrated in the facility have a capacity of 25 input movements and 25 other output movements per hour each, which results in a total of up to 100 possible loading movements every hour.
The new automatic vertical storage system will allow the plant to increase its production by more than 630,000 sqm and increase efficiency in the production of sheet board from the corrugator, enabling a buffer between the corrugator and the converting lines. Additionally, the system will be able to accommodate up to two different orders in the same cell, which facilitates a better use of the warehouse with low volume orders, an increasingly frequent trend in the sector.
