DS Smith and its Operations Learning Academy (OLA) won a prestigious award within the Best International Project category at the Uptale Awards.
The Uptale Awards celebrate excellence in the learning and Experiential Reality (XR) Industry using Virtual Reality (VR) technology, and the DS Smith team of inhouse experts have developed learning resources and supported their colleagues in the company’s manufacturing sites across Europe to identify risks and improve on procedures in a completely risk-free and safe environment that is away from the shopfloor.
This DS Smith Virtual Reality (VR) learning experience has been used widely across the Packaging Division to create these thought-provoking real-life scenarios for colleagues to learn and practice new operational skills.
The DS Smith Operations Learning Academy was recognised by an independent panel of organisations representing leadership in manufacturing, engineering, and technology, for the exceptional quality of the OLA digital learning solutions and deployment strategy.
Stefano Rossi – Divisional CEO Packaging, said, “This award is great recognition for the Operations Learning Academy and demonstrates how we are equipping our operations colleagues in a creative and engaging way. While Redefining Packaging for a Changing World we are also redefining the ways in which we are providing dynamic learning opportunities to our colleagues using digital technology to improve safety and our processes.”
Muriel Thoonsen, HR Director Packaging, added, “Congratulations to everyone involved in making this such a big success for the OLA team as well as the colleagues in our sites. It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication and this award is testament to the team that has worked tirelessly to develop and roll out the different solutions to all our operations people by using technologies that make it possible to reach our non-wired employees.”
