DS Smith Austria picks up multiple awards

DS Smith is celebrating a triple success at two of Austria’s most prestigious packaging awards. The company has won the Austrian State Prize for Smart Packaging in the B2B category, and two categories for innovative packaging product solutions at the Wellpappe Austria Awards.

  • State Prize for Smart Packaging – Fronius International: the company has been awarded the State Prize for Smart Packaging in the B2B category for its TransSteel 2200c product innovation for welding technology specalists, Fronius International. The DS Smith implantation team designed the modular corrugated packaging solution to be bespoke for 15kg welding machines, and the product is 100% recyclable with a few simple components that make it easy to use. The intelligent and robust solution was also designed and structured to ensure the maximum protection and safety of delicate machinery and products during transportation.
  • The Wellpappe Austria Awards – Ringana and TransSteel 2200c: DS Smith was also one of the big winners at the annual Wellpappe Austria Awards and has won in the Sustainability category with its Mexico shipping boxes for the natural cosmetics brand, RINGANA. The innovative concept was developed to meet specific logistical requirements around product shipment to Mexico and has set new standards in terms of functionality, efficiency, brand message, and resource conservation. With a flexible modular system designed for thirty different Ringana cosmetic products, the DS Smith packaging solution is successful in minimising wasted space, optimising storage capacity, and therefore reducing CO2 emissions efficiency during transportation by road, air, or sea.

Dieter Glawischnig, Managing Director, DS Smith Packaging Austria, said, “Winning the State Prize for Smart Packaging and the Wellpappe Austria Award in two categories fills me with great pride. These awards confirm the excellent performance of our team and our great commitment to innovation and the circular economy. A big thank you to our partners RINGANA and Fronius International. In both projects, we were able to jointly develop pioneering packaging solutions made of corrugated board. We want to continue to offer added value not only to our customers, but also to consumers and the environment.”
