EFIA CEO, Debbie Waldron-Hoines, has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London for contributions to print, after being nominated by the Stationers’ Company. While an honorary commendation in the modern context, the Freedom is awarded to recognise significant contributions to business and public life. She was put forward as a new freeman by the Stationers’ Livery Company, following her work at the European Flexographic Industry Association, European FTA and co-founding role in Women In Packaging.
Debbie commented, “It’s an honour to be given the Freedom and I hope to use it for the benefit of the print and packaging industry. We have a number of challenges in the sector that we need to address with the support of Stationers’ Company and EFIA; the skills gap and training and education are key to the development of the sector as well as dealing with many of the sustainability challenges that are being voiced in the media at the moment.”
