HelloFresh, the global leader in meal kit delivery has teamed up with Cascades Inc. to provide even more sustainable packaging with the northbox™ insulated container. HelloFresh is the first meal kit delivery service in the U.S. to utilize this box model, which will help keep food insulated for optimal freshness in transit and take the guesswork out of recycling for customers. Initially, the new packaging will be rolled out to a significant share of HelloFresh’s customers nationwide with boxes shipped from distribution centers in New Jersey, Texas, and California. The new packaging speaks to HelloFresh’s commitment to increase product sustainability across the board.
The northbox™ container is America’s first-of-its-kind paper-based insulation designed for ease of end-of-life recycling. Both the corrugated box and insulator are made with 100% recycled paperboard, mostly FSC-certified by the Rainforest Alliance®. Its proven insulating technology was tested under rigorous international standards.
“At HelloFresh, we want to make the entire cooking experience more convenient from start to finish,” said Uwe Voss, Chief Operating Officer of HelloFresh U.S. “By making it easier for customers to recycle with new packaging from Cascades, we’re confident it will encourage them to dispose of their boxes week after week in a sustainable way.”
“Our breakthrough insulated box was created to bring more sustainability to the meal kit market, without compromising on thermal performance”, said Luc Langevin, President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascades Specialty Products Group. “We’re thrilled to partner with a forward-looking company that shares a similar environmental consciousness.”
