Antalis is offering MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB to printers and converters in the UK, a recyclable and compostable barrier board for fresh food packaging.
This lightweight dispersion barrier coated paperboard is a cost-efficient replacement for single-use plastic packaging that can be easily recycled in paper or paperboard waste streams. MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB ticks all the boxes for premium packaging, especially in food and food service end uses, where a medium grease and moisture barrier is needed.
MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB is a bright OBA-free board that is lightweight, strong and has excellent printability. It is made without fluorochemicals and optical brighteners (OBA), making it suitable for direct food contact. It is biodegradable and can be composted industrially and at home.
This range allows Antalis to offer a board for many applications where barrier properties are required. Applications include:
- The food service sector: hamburgers, nuggets, chips and other takeaway food;
- Fresh food: salads, sandwiches, sushi, doughnuts, cakes, bakery products, vegetables, fruit;
- Dry food: muesli, cereals, cookies, chocolate, candy;
- Frozen food: ice cream, fish and seafood, pizza and ready meals;
- Other applications, such as soap or secondary packaging.
Steve Chappell, Graphic and Cartonboard Development Manager, Antalis, comments, “This leading barrier folding box board offers customers a premium protective, strong, lightweight and sustainable solution for food application projects.”
