Total boxboard production in December decreased 5% compared to December 2018 and was down 1% when compared to the same 12 months of 2018, according to the American Forest & Paper Association’s (AF&PA) December 2019 Boxboard Monthly Report. The boxboard operating rate was 88.8%, down 4.0 points from December 2018 and down 1.5 points year-to-date.
Solid bleached boxboard production in December decreased 4% compared to December 2018 and was down 1% when compared to the same 12 months of 2018. Recycled boxboard production in December decreased 3% compared to December 2018 and was down 1% when compared to the same 12 months of 2018.
Unbleached kraft and gypsum production in December decreased 8% compared to December 2018 and was down 1% when compared to the same 12 months of 2018.
