The General Manager of Acimga (Italia manufacturers association of machinery for the graphic, converting and paper industry) and Federazione Carta e Grafica, Andrea Briganti, took part in a webinar organised by the Italian Embassy in Oman, together with ICE’s (Italian Trade Agency) offices of Dubai and Muscat, to promote the industrial compartment in the Arabian Peninsula, enhancing the collaboration between Italy and Oman.
Briganti presented the Association’s activities and the Italian technologies in the printing, converting and packaging field. He also gave an overview of the economic data from Federazione Carta e Grafica and the supply chain’s projects in terms of internationalisation and Industry 4.0.
The virtual meeting, opened by the Italian Ambassador Federica Favi, was attended by Italo Vailati – General Secretary of Giflex, Amedeo Scarpa – Italian Trade Commissioner for Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan and Paolo Gabrieli – Relationship Manager MENA Region for SACE. Speaking for Oman were the Undersecretary of Trade and Industry Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Riyada’s CEO (SME Development Authority) Halima Al Zari, the director of Investors Services for Ithraa (Investment Development and Export Agency) Mazin Humaid Al Siyabi and the Director of Innovation Start-Ups Jalal Al-Hadrami.
“Oman is not a very big market in absolute terms, but Italy has done very little in the region,” says Briganti. “Growth margins are therefore potentially very high, but we need to make the Italian excellence in our industry well known locally and show why the ‘Made by Italy’ represents a huge plus in the field of printing and converting. This webinar opens a new commitment activity by Acimga, introducing Italian machinery internationally, with four roadshow events in the UK, Turkey, Egypt and Algeria during the autumn of 2020.”
