Leading South Africa-based folding carton manufacturer, Shave & Gibson (S&G), has secured an industry first, with the recent arrival of a BOBST Visioncut 145PER die-cutter.
Based in Durban, Shave & Gibson were able to secure this new machine from Bobst, which is the first in the world in this format. Bobst has already sold over 300 of the Visioncut 160 model into the corrugated industry and the development of the 145 model is aimed more at folding carton converters. Installation of the new machine took place recently, with all the implications of Covid-19 restrictions. Although Bobst engineers were unable to travel for the installation, engineers from Bobst’s agent in South Africa – Beswick Machinery – were able to undertake the installation with the assistance of online tuition from Bobst in Switzerland.
In addition to the Visioncut, the converter has also installed other equipment, including a BW Papersystems eCon sheeter, a Heiber & Schröder Proliner window patcher, a Focusight Technology carton proofing system and a Solarco Boxmatic 18DC short run box maker.
