70 years of innovation at EMBA

For seven decades, EMBA Machinery has been at the forefront of innovation in the corrugated board converting industry. The company, initially named AB Emballagemaskiner, was established in 1954 in Örebro, Sweden. The primary focus was on the design and manufacturing of machines for semi-automatic and fully automatic folding and stitching of corrugated packaging.

In 1968, EMBA launched its first flexo folder gluer, the FFG 240. Through its innovation of vacuum transport technology, the company significantly advanced the corrugated packaging industry. With development as an ongoing process, the company have since successfully launched several new FFG machines, all characterised by a design that enables fast setup, high productivity, and excellent print quality.

In 2006, the EMBA 245 QS Ultima was introduced, the world’s first Non-Crush-Converting™ machine. The groundbreaking, patented technology, featuring the Ultima Feeder™, marked a major leap forward in the development of FFG converting machines. The concept clearly exemplifies how EMBA’s products evolve to meet modern needs, with a focus on speed, precision, and care for materials.

“As we celebrate 70 years, our goal is to remain at the forefront of corrugated box production, continually advancing through innovation and development. By focusing on customer-driven product development, continuous process improvements, and a strong market presence, EMBA strive to provide high-quality machines for today and the future,” said Anders Berg, CEO. “This milestone also offers us the opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our customers, partners, and team for their contributions to the company’s success.”
