SOMADI are investing in the future

In the ever-evolving printing industry, staying ahead means investing in future-proof solutions and building strategic partnerships. SOMADI, a family-run printing business in Morocco, exemplifies this philosophy through their investment in cutting-edge printing equipment.

A legacy of excellence

SOMADI, established 60 years ago by Ludovic Chartouni’s grandfather, has become a cornerstone of Morocco’s printing industry. Patrick Chartouni, the founder’s son, through strict and rigorous management and his eagerness to invest in a profession he is passionate about, was able to energise the company before the arrival of his son: Ludovic, who brought a broader vision. Ludovic joined the familiy business in 2014 and is now the company’s General Manager. He brought a vision of modernisation and process optimisation to ensure the company could adapt to change and overcome future challenges. Over the years, SOMADI has embraced innovative technology, focusing on publishing, communication, and high-quality packaging.

Complementing SOMADI’s expertise is WEPRINT, an online printing shop that offers a wide range of customisable products, from personalised wedding invitations to promotional displays. Orders placed through WEPRINT are manufactured at the SOMADI factory, combining the convenience of online services with SOMADI’s renowned craftsmanship. “The synergy between SOMADI and WEPRINT allows us to provide both the convenience of online ordering and the exceptional quality our customers have come to expect,” Ludovic explains.

Their latest investment, the Komori GL540 with HUV coating and the GL640 in conventional, highlights their commitment to delivering enduring value and cost-effective solutions, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the industry for years to come.

Balancing quality and efficiency

While SOMADI’s new machines are capable of high speeds — up to 16,000 sheets per hour — Ludovic emphasises that their true value lies in their ability to adapt to SOMADI’s requirements. “Our typical print runs are between 500 and 15,000 copies, so we don’t need maximum speeds. What matters is the consistent quality, faster setups, and lasting performance, which ensure our operations remain efficient and cost-effective,” he says.

This strategic approach has allowed SOMADI to maintain a diverse portfolio, with packaging accounting for 40–50% of their revenue and publishing the remainder. Their investment in flexible, high-performance equipment positions them to overcome future challenges while maintaining a competitive edge.

A partnership built on ROI and trust

SOMADI’s relationship with Komori has further demonstrated how collaboration drives long-term success. They have demonstrated an understanding of SOMADI’s specific challenges, ensuring that the Komori presses meet both their technical and operational needs. “We’re very satisfied, not just with the machines but with the relationship we’ve built. Komori has provided cost-effective solutions tailored to our needs, with a focus on delivering enduring value and addressing our future challenges,” Ludovic adds.

Equally, the strong partnership with the distributor, Conseil Graphique, alongside Komori, has been a key factor in SOMADI’s success. In Morocco, the distributor often plays a critical role, and Dominique’s (owner of Conseil Graphique) dedication to reliability and fast intervention has been a cornerstone of this relationship. “Their on-site support minimises downtime and gives us peace of mind,” says Ludovic.

Partnership and progress

This focus on future-proof solutions and partnerships ensures SOMADI remains well-equipped to adapt to changing industry demands while delivering exceptional value to their customers. By combining cutting-edge technology with strong relationships, SOMADI sets an example of how businesses can achieve cost-effective operations and sustainable growth.

Ludovic concludes, “It’s not just about the technology; it’s about working with people who understand your vision and help you achieve the ROI and long-term value you’re striving for.”
