GATNER Packaging is a Polish manufacturer of corrugated packaging. It is a family business, operating since 2000. From 2000 to 2022, the company operated under the name JANMAR CENTRUM.
In 2022, the company began a rebranding process aimed at communicating its core values: the family-oriented nature of the business, the production of modern corrugated packaging, innovation in the machinery park, and care for people and the natural environment.
The initial business profile was the production of corrugated packaging for the furniture industry, as the company’s headquarters are located in the heart of Poland’s woodworking region. Today, with a modern machinery park, it is hard to speak of any limitations in the production of corrugated packaging.
In detail
GATNER Packaging consists of three modern factories. Two of them specialise in the production of corrugated packaging, while the third location focuses on the design and production of paper honeycomb filling.
The factory in Trzcinica has undergone a series of modernisations over the past 25 years, making its machinery park one of the most advanced in Europe. Following the model of the first factory, a second location was established in 2023 in central Poland – Stryków, near Łódź. The production at this plant is primarily focused on transport packaging, including large-sized packaging.
GATNER Packaging currently employs over 350 people, which is the highest level of employment in the company’s 25-year history. The steadily increasing workforce is a result of new investments and a growing number of clients served. The combined production capacity of both factories is 300 million sqm of corrugated packaging annually.
GATNER Packaging has been producing corrugated cardboard packaging for 25 years, serving customers from various industries, including: food, chemicals, automotive, furniture, electronics, and metal. Among their products are die-cut boxes, flap boxes, large-sized boxes, specialised packaging, and e-commerce packaging solutions.
The company collaborates with a large number of companies from both domestic and international markets. They meet the requirements of the largest retail chains and specialised entities as well.
Furthermore, the expansion of GATNER’s offering to include paper honeycomb filling has enabled its customers to obtain comprehensive supplies of eco-friendly and carefully designed solutions. The compatibility of the filling with both the product and the corrugated packaging ensures excellent protection during storage, transportation, and shelf display.
Tooling storage investment
“The technical condition of tools plays a key role in maintaining the highest quality of production processes,” says Tomasz Czekała, Manager, Capital Investment Projects, GATNER Packaging. “Therefore, it is crucial not only to use them correctly but also to store them under appropriate, safe conditions. Care for the tools is an investment in production quality, minimising downtime, and reducing costs related to repairs and equipment replacement.”
He continues, “The dynamically growing customer base and the increasing number of projects led to the existing tool storage space becoming insufficient. Additionally, the idea of building a high-bay warehouse for tools was reinforced during the purchase of the new BOBST MASTERCUT 2.1 flat bed die-cutter.”
The process began with the construction of a warehouse building, which included planned space for tool storage. At the same time, efforts were made to find a partner for the project’s implementation. Work on the project started in 2022 with bcm transtech a/s, when two semi-automatic cranes were installed, along with racks designed for tool storage.
In 2024, the system was expanded with an additional crane and extra racks, increasing its functionality and capacity.
“We decided on a semi-automatic system because, in our opinion, it is safe and easy to operate, and allows immediate tracking of tool locations,” says Czekała. “An additional advantage is the ability to store a large number of production tools in a small space. After the expansion, we can store approximately 15,000 tools – flatbed dies, rotary dies, and printing plates – in the system.”
He adds, “The installation process went smoothly and according to schedule, meaning the warehouse was ready for use immediately after the work was completed. Any minor technical issues were promptly addressed together with bcm. As a result, we were able to quickly achieve full functionality of the warehouse, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality tool storage.”
“We maintain a very good relationship with bcm, a family company with many years of experience in tool storage. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, we were able to collaboratively create an efficient tool storage system tailored to our industry,” he continues, “Their professional approach, flexibility, and in-depth knowledge of the market specifics make them not only a solution provider but also a valuable business partner. The solutions we’ve developed together support our daily production processes and enhance the quality of our products.”
For the future
Czekała concludes, “We are currently in the final stage of our five-year investment plan, with the last element being the construction of a modern finished goods warehouse. We expect the investment to be completed by the beginning of 2026. There are more plans to come, so watch this space! We do not intend to be merely consumers of previous investments – we still have ambitious plans and are ready for further development.”
