Founded over 40 years ago, Imballaggi San Martino is a leading company in the production of corrugated packaging, led by Gian Battista Gorio and his son Diego.
Established in 1982, the company started its early activities with die-cutting. Growth was seen over the following years and by 2015, Imballaggi San Martino’s were operating from 60,000 sqm of factory and storage space – of which 16,000 sqm is in Lograto in the province of Brescia – this additional space was added in 2015 to optimise the increasing workflow.
From here, significant investments over the last few years have led the company to add new divisions and to invest in the most recent and advanced technologies. In June 2022, Imballaggi San Martino chose to widen its own machine park with a high performance Koenig & Bauer Celmacch Chroma EVO 1700 – with five bottom printing units, left-side operator and HBL configuration – placed in-line with a new BOBST MASTERCUT 1.7 flat bed die-cutter.
Chroma in Detail
The Chroma EVO is equipped with the most recent and advanced electronic components to ensure maximum reliability, printing accuracy and robustness of the whole line.
All direct drives are powered by regenerative power units that allow recovery of the kinetic energy dissipated during breaking phases by transforming it into electricity, with a significant reduction of power consumption. The electrical system has a modular structure, in order to reduce costs and maintenance times, all characteristics which are valued by consumers especially in case of printing lines running three shifts all year round.
The user-friendly interface allows a simple and intuitive use of the printer for machine operators; job-changeover can be done without stopping the line and the production process, in full compliance with all safety regulations in force.
The inking system is equipped with chambered doctor blades systems developed by Celmacch, with a peristaltic pump that allows ink flow and a return pneumatic pump. Furthermore, the flexo printer chosen by Imballaggi San Martino is equipped with one Celmacch Sheet Cleaner Cleanplus, an antistatic device that removes dust from the corrugated sheets to improve printing quality; also, four semi-automatic anilox changeover systems (one in working position and one in deposit), and two Celmacch IR and hot air Drying Systems, which guarantee a fast drying process due to the combination of infra-red lamps and hot air.
”Customer satisfaction and loyalty are primary goals for Celmacch, as our business policy aims to offer an incomparable quality of our products, combined with competitive operating costs, which ensure a fast return on the investment,” explains Luca Celotti, General Manager. “A 24 hour after-sale service helps ensure maximum uptime, all being key-factors for success that make Celmacch the best partner for high-definition flexo printing.”
