Following the successful installation of a latest generation Latitude casemaker in 2018, UK-based Cases24 has committed to a significant investment in a further step change in operational excellence and efficiency. The Midlands based business has invested in a new state of the art materials handling line setup, which will increase casemaking capacity and deliver increased service levels even during the busiest periods of the year.
The package of new automation equipment includes a second Dücker double pallet inserter and pallet robot, building changes, plastic belt conveyors, new automated strapping lines and superior operational control, courtesy of Dücker’s Ascor data tracking system. A main feature of this investment will be a 4.8m wide Stabiltrack® conveyor system, enabling efficient throughput of finished goods from casemakers to strappers, enabling optimum casemaker uptime.
Cases24 is a well positioned ‘trade only’ case supplier operating together with Board24 in Coalville, offering trade customers across the UK high volume glued cases in a variety of specifications backed by excellent reliability and speed to market.
This latest investment, driven by strong customer demand and market growth, will ensure all four Latitude casemakers operate at full productivity, removing a bottleneck caused by one of the current pallet inserter lines.
Phase One
Consistent growth of Cases24 has required a new long-term vision for the Coalville site. To maintain and achieve world class manufacturing ideals for the business, site wide automation is at the heart of the long-term plan. Phase One of these changes will unlock further investment in new casemakers, corrugator upgrades and latest generation automated ‘Work in Progress’ systems.
Alex Morris, (pictured left) Managing Director of Cases24, is delighted to welcome the beginning of the investment strategy. He says, “At the heart of the decision to make this investment is our customers, who continue to put their faith in our model of trade only supply and single-minded focus on service. We are fortunate to have a strong ‘make it possible’ attitude throughout the Cases24 team and I have no doubt the efficiency improvements will assist the goal of further output records.”
Operations Manager at Board24 Coalville, Shawn Summerton, is looking forward to improving the materials handling capability of the business “The benefits of the ongoing development strategy for the operation will undoubtedly help our ability to further increase Cases24 capacity throughout the year. Looking at the installation schedule, it will happen in time for the busiest period of the year in the last quarter of 2021, which fits well with our customer base.”
