A milestone for the Russian market and for the German family-owned Bahmüller was achieved recently, with the first installation of a Turbox BTX 1450 high speed specialty folder gluer at Arkhbum Group in Russia. The installation took place in the newly built part of the corrugated producers factory in Istra during August.
Arkhbum’s goal is to double capacity, up to 400 million sqm per year, following a significant round of investment in leading European converting machinery. Against this background — and to match the growing demands of the Russian market — Arkhbum was looking for ways to increase productivity and enhance product quality for their portfolio of smaller size boxes. The company felts that a fast ROI can be achieved, thanks to quick set up time, the easy handling of the specialty folder gluer and the ‘Unique Fold’ system for high speed production, even for very complex box styles.
The glue application control in combination with ‘Unique Eject’ (which discharges faulty glued boxes) and the possibility of quality control while running contributes to the permanently increasing quality standards. Last, but not least, the possibility to convert a wide range of different boxes made it easy for Arkhbum to decide on the Turbox.
Another aspect which was of interest to the Russian company was the modular design of the machine, which allows retrofits, such as automatic Powerpacker. This enables them to achieve another level of performance and output and which is high on Arkhbum’s agenda. The later retrofit of a Topmatcher to combine two blanks in one step offers Arkhbum an additional opportunity to react quickly to new challenges of the Russian market.
The company has also confirmed the next step in its investment plan — the installation of a BGM 3.2 m folder gluer with the latest Flowbelt technology, which wil be installed in October 2019.
