Part of the VPK Group, Aquila is a dedicated sheet feeding operation, with multiple sites in Poland. The first Aquila site was commissioned in 2005 in Września. Today, aside from Września, the Polish manufacturing footprint includes locations in Radomsko and Brzeg.
With a total capacity of over 600 million sqm per annum, Aquila is a leading producer of corrugated board in Poland. VPK Group now employs about 500 people in Poland and they service roughly 400 customers located throughout country. They also have a number of customers in Slovakia and Czech Republic. Depending on the needs of the customers, the company are able to supply products up to 350km from each location.
Need for more sheet board
“Taking into account the needs of our customers, we decided to invest in the quality of board and make our production more innovative and efficient, which required multi-faceted actions from us,” explains Jacek Kryszkiewicz, Managing Director – Poland. “The growing demand for corrugated packaging forced us to be even more active and attractive in the market, to ensure excellent customer service, quality and to further improve our efficiency. That is why we decided to invest some €25m and install a new corrugator at our plant in Września.”
He continues, “The scale of this investment strengthens our business position and provides customers with even more modern production. With the help of the new corrugator we are ready for more eco-friendly and efficient production.”
The project began in March 2024, with a ceremonial groundbreaking at the construction site and at the beginning of 2025 the official ribbon cutting ceremony took place in the new hall. At the heart of the investment is a Fosber 2.8m S/Line corrugator, equipped with a triple stacker, a SEEMI logistic systems, and all the necessary technical infrastructure. The corrugator has three knives, three stackers, which is important, enabling the factory to handle three different orders for customers at the same time. The speed of the corrugator is 420m per min, which allows for the production of up to 20 million sqm of corrugated board per month. The new corrugator is located in a hall with an area of 13,000 sqm.
“We have been working with Fosber for a very long time, so the supplier knows our needs and requirements very well. They are able to answer many questions and help solve any problems quickly,” says Łukasz Nęcki, Operations Director, VPK Poland. “Many of our operators and technicians are long-term and experienced employees who have been actively involved in the installation of the machine and in training. Cooperation with Fosber is always at the highest level.”
He concludes, “We have been associated with Fosber for over 20 years, our first corrugator in Września, as well as the machine located in our plant in Radomsko are from Fosber. Over the years, we have solved many technical problems together and gained a lot of knowledge and experience.
