UK-based Zenith Print & Packaging has taken delivery of its third Masterwork machine and its second Promatrix model. In 2015 it purchased a Promatrix 106CS (cutting and stripping) die-cutter, in 2016 it bought a Diana Smart 80 folder-gluer and now it has installed a Promatrix 106FC (foiling) machine, the first such machine in the UK. These machines are all products developed, manufactured and supplied through the Heidelberg-Masterwork partnership.
John Mooney, Managing Director of the Zenith Group, says, “We have been very pleased with the Promatrix CS die-cutter and the Diana Smart folder-gluer so it wasn’t a hard decision to opt to source our foiling machine from Heidelberg this time round. We handle high quality work for coin and metal collectors and retail applications and foiling gives a stand out, luxury finish to a product. We will use this machine for runs of 500 to 500,000, primarily for numismatic (coin collection) and gift box applications.”
The Promatrix 106FC which provides hot foil embossing and hologram application can handle stocks of 90gsm paper up to 2,000gsm board or 4mm corrugated material in formats up to 760 x 1060mm which means it could also be used for promotional work from its sister company Zenith Media. The Promatrix 106 FC has a maximum speed of 7,500sph. The Computerized Stamping Control system developed by MK has precise calculation; a user-friendly programme efficiently improves foil usage. The highly configured Promatrix FC comes with feeder platform, motorised side alignment, pneumatic tooling and non-stop delivery apron to maximise productivity. The machine also has the ability to foil in transverse and longtitudinal directions, which increases efficiencies and reduces waste.
The Zenith Group dates back to the 1980s although it has grown organically and through acquisition since to become a comprehensive litho and digital print supplier from its Treforest, Ponypridd plant. It not only supplies UK business but also buyers abroad. It has won a Queen’s Award for Export, recognition for a company that supplies products to five continents and over 60 countries.
The group runs a battery of Speedmaster presses, Suprasetter CtP technology and both commercial and packaging postpress machines from Heidelberg. “We like the consultative approach Heidelberg provides, the reliability and productivity of its equipment and the peace of mind of its service support operations,” says Mooney.
