PolyMX holds training course

Andrew Powell, Technical Sales Manager of PolyMX, recently held a training session at the DS Smith Grenaa in Denmark. The goal of this training session was to give the attendees detailed information about rotary die-cutting. It gave insight on how rotary dies are made and what pitfalls you can come across. The following topics were addressed:

  • Structural Design (and it’s limitations);
  • Manufacturing of a rotary die;
  • Choice of materials such as shells and rotary rules;
  • SRP & RRP perforation rules;
  • Ejection materials.

The session also took a look at the effects of poor maintenance. “To achieve great results on a rotary die-cutter, the machine has to be in perfect working order; if not, this has an influence on the lifespan of the machine and it’s auxilliary components,” said Powell. “What people forget is that maintenance also has a great influence on the dimensional stability of a product.”
