On 17th July, employees from DS Smith’s Kemsley paper mill joined forces with Swale Council Park Ranger team and Regis Manor Primary School to celebrate Keep Britain Tidy’s ‘Love Parks Week’.
The ‘Love Parks’ initiative is an annual event in the UK where Keep Britain Tidy encourages people to get out and enjoy their favourite park, ensuring they are used and protected for future generations.
One Kemsley Community and Charity committee member commented, “This year we thought it would be good to involve some local primary school children in this important event. We chose a park opposite the school where the children regularly play and decided to take them litter picking. It was great to see how quickly the children identified the importance of keeping their park tidy.”
One school child added, “We need to go back to school now and do an assembly on the importance of throwing litter in the bin as the park looks much nicer.”
