The Romanian site of Marbach celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Starting as a small sales office with three employees, today it is a company with 60 employees.
Marek Roskos, plant manager, Marbach Romania, explains, “In 1999, there was no production at Marbach in Romania, only a small sales office in the city. At that time, the cutting-dies were still produced by the sister company in the Czech Republic. Due to the increasing growth of the Romanian packaging market, the first cutting-dies were produced in Nadlac in 2002. At that time, the production area was only 100 square meters, there was only one laser and a lot of manual work was required to produce the cutting-dies. Four years later, the company invested in new equipment, a second laser and the first automation machines for tool production.”
In 2008, another major investment was made. The company invested in a state-of-the-art laser with 2,100 watts and a water jet cutting system. The Marbach subsidiary in Romania continued to grow rapidly. As a result, the capacity of the facilities quickly became too small. For this reason, a 15,000 sqm plot of land was purchased on the outskirts of Nadlac, where a new 900 sqm building was constructed, which the company moved into in 2011. This was also the beginning of increased automation, from then on, flat and rotary tools could be produced at the Marbach site in Romania.
Just 10 years later, in 2021, the time had come again – the premises were too small. So the go-ahead was given for an extension of the existing building by a further 1,600 sqm, where Marbach Romania has been successfully producing cutting-dies since 2022.
Over the last 25 years, a small sales office has become a modern and successful Marbach Group site. Today, around 20,000 cutting-dies are produced there every year. However, the company does not only invest in state-of-the-art machines and equipment – sustainability is also a focus at Marbach Romania. This is visible in numerous activities: a powerful photovoltaic system produces 260 MWh of energy per year, the entire company building is equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting, and the fleet includes modern electric vehicles including associated charging stations. Marbach Romania is also involved in the ‘Plant and Adopt Trees’ environmental project, which consists of the planting of 1,500 trees.
