Kernic Systems recently completed the installation of a compact scrap recovery system for the new Norlands Box Company corrugated sheet plant in Surrey, British Columbia.
The compact, turn-key system is designed to handle scrap material from up to two production machines. This system includes a Höcker Polytechnik GmbH PMA rotary airlock material separator for the air conveyed trim scrap and also includes a manual baler loading conveyor with sweep plate for all of the plant’s make-ready boxes, sheet waste, and other loose trim. The wide mouth baler/conveyor combination eliminates the need for a shredder, saving valuable air flow and allowing for a dust collector of reduced size, saving valuable floor space and cost. The Hocker Vacumobil used for the conveying air filtration in this application is a small footprint dust collector supplied with flameless explosion venting, fire suppression and inlet isolation gate.
The Maren Engineering Corporation ProPAK60 horizontal full-eject baler makes dense, heavy, mill-size bales for maximum revenue. The feed conveyor with an angled sweep plate allows the operators to maintain the area more efficiently.
“This compact sheet plant specific design is a cost effective and small footprint solution designed to service small to medium size plants,” explains Daniel Williams, Canadian Sales & Corporate Marketing Manager, Kernic Systems. “Whether your operation has two production machines, or ten, Kernic Systems has the solution to all of your scrap collection needs.”
