At the end of last year, Boxes & Packaging took delivery of its latest machine investment, a Weipong three colour, 3.0m printer slotter with rotary die-cutter, at its facility in Manchester.
Arriving just a few months after the business relocated to new, more spacious premises, the Weipong is becoming a popular machine in the corrugated industry. Weipong is represented in the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe by GTS Europe. “We are delighted to supply this new flexo printer slotter to Boxes & Packaging,” said David Williams, Managing Director, GTS Europe. “This is the first Weipong we have installed for the Boxes and Packaging Group and joins the growing list of customers in the UK and Ireland who are running this popular machine.”
The new Weipong is capable of 10,000 feeds per hour and will bring additional production capacity to the Manchester production facility.
Stuart Clarke, Managing Director, Boxes and Packaging (Manchester) commented, “This fantastic new investment will give us fast setting times, excellent print quality and strong productivity and is a welcome addition to the machinery portfolio here. It will help us to support our ever-growing customer base with their requirements and the ongoing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. We expect it to be fully operational, after installation, commissioning, and training, by the end of January.”
Further investment in a new Kirby folder gluer will further strengthen the capabilities of the site and bring added capacity and diversity to the production capacity and future proofing the site for many years to come.
Clarke concluded, “I am proud to lead the team at this new Manchester site and it is pleasing to have such credible investment enabling us to maximise our output. Our customers will continue to benefit from our excellent customer service and this greater capacity will only serve to support them further.”
