This September marks eight years since the world embraced the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Reconomy, the circular economy specialist providing sustainability technology, data and services to a broad range of industries, is joining hundreds of businesses, government departments, and civil society organisations in a global movement to fly an SDG flag to spread awareness of the SDGs and mobilise stakeholders for the 2030 agenda.
Reconomy’s sustainability strategy is aligned with the SDGs and since 2018 the business has generated more than £2.2m of social value across the communities in which it works. Its top five SDGs include responsible consumption, good health and wellbeing, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities and climate action while Reconomy also contributes to gender equality, life below water and life on land.
Diane Crowe, Head of Sustainability, Reconomy, commented, “The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are a fantastic blueprint for how businesses across the world can deliver substantive climate action, social improvement and business leadership. We are proud to be part of the project and achieving tangible progress against our ambitions. We realised a reduction in our carbon intensity of 13% in 2022 and are awaiting verification of the carbon reduction targets we submitted to SBTi demonstrating our commitment to achieving net zero carbon in collaboration with our customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders.”
