Sheboygan, WI-based Sheboygan Paper Box Company has confirmed it has more than doubled its sheeting capacity to provide faster time-to-market times for folding cartons by installing a new SheetRunner sheeter from BW Papersystems.
“In today’s world of supply-chain hiccups, the custom folding-carton and paperboard packaging industry has experienced its share of capacity issues,” says Scott Monnot, Vice President and General Manager, SPBCo.
“Manufacturers of products that go into folding cartons have been forced into more-proactive planning to offset longer lead-times at carton converters. Bottlenecks can be found at all stages of the process; from sheeting, to printing, to die-cutting, to finishing. At SPBCo, we’ve been fortunate to have world-class partnerships which allow us to keep pace with customer demands for more paperboard — and ultimately, more folding cartons. Demand is definitely up. There’s always more to be done to open-up capacity throughout the folding-carton converting process.”
Monnot (pictured left) concludes, “This new installation will allow faster, more-automated sheeting of board stock, delivering flatter final sheets as a result of BW’s multiple de-curl systems — including the Three Bar bi-directional de-curler. Flatter sheets through the press ultimately improves the quality of finished cartons. We’re thrilled to have partnered with BW Papersystems on this project. Their first-rate products, and the fact the machine was built right here in Wisconsin, made them the obvious choice for this capital investment.”
