Ministerial visit for Palm

The Palm Group recently welcomed regional Prime Minister, Winfried Kretschmann, to its paper mill in Aalen, Germany.

Prime Minister Kretschmann was interested in visiting the new mill and his detailed questions showed his high level of attention in all environmental and sustainability issues. He told Dr Wolfgang Palm that he was impressed that the paper machine could not be heard acoustically outside of the building. He was also pleased that 200,000 tons of paper per year can be transported by rail, relieving the roads of 8,000 trucks.

Kretschmann also showed particular enthusiasm for the world’s first gas turbine that can burn hydrogen instead of natural gas. With this investment, the basis for CO2-free paper production at Palm has been created. “I am delighted that Palm, as a company steeped in tradition, has invested in developing a sustainable future and is now setting new standards with state-of-the-art production technology,” summarised Prime Minister Kretschmann.
