Recovered fibre exporters, together with the UK Recycling Association, have expressed concern that following export restrictions to China, Indonesia is now introducing new paperwork requirements for exports and Turkey is planning to recycle more of its own ‘resources’.
Together, China, Indonesia and Turkey represent three of the top five export markets for UK and European recovered fibre exports. As with China, the future restrictions in Indonesia and Turkey will doubtless be phased in over time but as Simon Ellin of the Recycling Association has pointed out, “Our UK exporters could face a challenging situation in the near future.”
